Diesel Mechanic

Job
Responsibilities:
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Efficiently communicates vehicle status to Service staff for customer awareness.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion, completing winterization procedures.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub- assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
Prepares and maintains records and reports.
Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
Required to complete 100% of web based training as set by Service Manager's training path.
Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Knowledge and Skill Required:
1 year fleet, dealership, and/or successful completion of either a 2-year technical training program or a 3-year apprenticeship, is strongly preferred.
Safety-mindset with knowledge and experience applying OSHA standards
Candidate must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing and meet all physical requirements for the position.
Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
Computer diagnostic experience.
Must be proficient in typing and updating Repair Orders with notes about repairs.
ASE certification a plus, but not required.
Valid CDL preferred; must obtain within 6 months
Physical Requirements:
Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs. frequently.
Employee's position requires pushing and/or pulling a maximum force of 50 lbs.
Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
