PPD handles significant quantities of confidential personal information. Compliance with data protection and privacy laws is of fundamental importance to the company. The Senior Privacy Officer will be responsible for providing broad compliance support to the company under the supervision of the Head of Clinical Research Privacy in Thermo Fisher Scientific. This includes, but is not limited to, providing daily support to different business functions; implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures; development of privacy notices and consents, investigation and tracking of privacy incidents; and appropriately to requests by data subjects to exercise their rights.
Job Description:
The role can be remote home-based in the United States, office based in Wilmington North Carolina, or a flexible combination of these options. The successful candidate will take responsibility for PPD's procedures for managing privacy-by-design in new software, applications, and business processes. Ideally, he/she should have experience of using a dedicated privacy compliance platform, such as those offered by Trust Arc or One Trust. In addition, he/she will be commercially aware and supportive of PPD's strategic business objectives. They will be an experienced privacy professional that has deep subject matter expertise, excellent organisational, planning, and interpersonal skills as well as an acute business acumen. Provides guidance on complex issues involving the processing of personal data in a multi-national organization, taking into account applicable data privacy laws. Takes overall responsibility for managing PPD's use of the Trust Arc privacy platform. Collaborates with various departments to ensure that new initiatives, software, applications and business processes are in compliance with applicable data privacy laws. Completes privacy questionnaires sent to PPD by clients and potential clients. Reviews vendor privacy risk assessment forms and assesses vendors' privacy practices for compliance with our privacy policies and legal requirements. Works with applicable business units in overseeing patient rights to inspect, amend, and restrict access to protected personal information when appropriate. Addresses complaints and inquiries from data subjects and agencies. Investigates and manages privacy incidents in with the Privacy and Legal departments. Reviews and drafts appropriate privacy and confidentiality consents, authorization forms, information notices and transfer agreements. Support Quality Assurance function on privacy audit program. Maintains current knowledge of applicable , federal and state privacy laws and regulations. Monitors new initiatives, guidelines and regulations globally to ensure awareness of changes in regulatory environment and adjusts business practices accordingly. LI-Remote LI-NA1
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Legal & Regulatory, Risk & Quantitative AnalysisEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
